Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has signed the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦705 billion into law, pledging full implementation to consolidate governance and service delivery across the state.
The signing ceremony, held at the governor’s office in Abere, Osogbo, was attended by the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun; Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye; Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina; and members of the state executive council.
According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke described the 2026 budget as a strategic tool to strengthen ongoing projects and introduce new initiatives in line with his administration’s five-point development agenda.
The governor noted that the signing marked the beginning of the final year of his first term, stressing that his government would intensify efforts to complete key projects and improve the welfare of residents.
Similarly, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has assented to the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged the Budget of Economic Consolidation, with a total expenditure of ₦524.41 billion.
The budget comprises ₦220.83 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦303.58 billion for capital projects, with priority given to infrastructure, healthcare, and education. Speaking after signing the bill in Akure, Aiyedatiwa described the fiscal plan as a response to current economic challenges and a roadmap for sustainable development.
He outlined allocations to sectors including agriculture, trade and industry, education, health, information, community development, infrastructure, environmental management, justice administration, public finance, legislative services, and energy. The governor urged ministries and agencies to ensure strict compliance with budget provisions and timely execution of projects.
Aiyedatiwa also commended members of the Ondo State House of Assembly for their swift consideration of the bill, describing the process as a reflection of effective collaboration between the executive and legislative arms.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill totaling ₦1.668 trillion earlier presented by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The bill was approved following the presentation of a report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Musefiu Lamidi, during plenary at the Assembly Complex in Abeokuta. Lawmakers adopted the bill clause by clause before it was passed through a unanimous voice vote.
Lamidi disclosed that adjustments were made to the proposals of three ministries, departments, and agencies, resulting in an increase of ₦2.193 billion in internally generated revenue, with a corresponding reduction in capital receipts, while retaining the overall budget size.
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to transmit a clean copy of the bill to the governor for assent.
