A political support group aligned with President Bola Tinubu has distributed significant quantities of food items to vulnerable residents in the Adamawa State capital, in an initiative some locals interpret as an early attempt to court support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to an eyewitness in Yola, the food-sharing exercise was organised by supporters of the President and carried out in his immediate neighbourhood. One resident said the initiative specifically targeted underprivileged and impoverished individuals in the area.
“Hon. Dahiru Hammandikko (Dan Kade Adamawa), Executive Director of Agricultural Services at Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, distributed food items (rice, spaghetti, noodles, and seasoning cubes) to vulnerable groups,” the source said.
The resident further confirmed that the exercise was not spontaneous but organised by political groups loyal to President Tinubu.
“It was organized by Tinubu Support Group in collaboration with Northern Region Support Group,” he said, underscoring the political networks behind the distribution.
He clarified that the beneficiaries were mainly impoverished people within his immediate community, suggesting the exercise was intended to reach those most affected by Nigeria’s ongoing cost-of-living challenges.
The development unfolds amid worsening economic and security conditions across Nigeria, which have drawn pressure on political leaders to respond to widespread public hardship. Recent national discussion has focused on rising food prices, unemployment, and inflation, factors that have contributed to growing frustration among Nigerians.
