The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has praised Borno State for its scenic beauty and agricultural potential, assuring that he will encourage investors to the region.
The monarch made the remarks on Friday evening in Maiduguri during a private meeting with Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House.
Describing Governor Zulum as a “true reformer” and a role model for young Nigerians, the Ooni expressed admiration for his efforts to rebuild and transform Borno State.
“I like what you are doing. I am very proud of you and I want to come closer to you. I have been a fan of yours for a long time. This state can indeed feed the entire country,” the Ooni said.
He also commended Zulum’s dedication to development and his passion for Maiduguri, saying, “Borno is a beautiful state. I now understand why you are always running back here.”
Highlighting historical ties, the Ooni noted that the Kanuri and Yoruba people share deep-rooted blood relations, which further strengthened his admiration for the state.
In response, Governor Zulum thanked the monarch for visiting and for accepting the role of Chancellor at Kashim Ibrahim University, describing the Ooni as a unifying figure committed to national unity and cultural preservation.
The Ooni was in Maiduguri to attend the combined convocation ceremony of the state-owned Kashim Ibrahim University. He was accompanied by several traditional rulers, including the Ajero of Ijero-Ekiti, Oba Joseph Adewole Adebayo, and the Alaagba of Aagba, Oba Rufus Olayinka Ogunwole, among others.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable development and peace in Borno State.
