The Lagos State Government has ordered a full investigation into the death of nine-month-old identical twins, Testimony and Timothy Alozie, who reportedly died less than 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation at a primary healthcare centre in the state
The incident, which has sparked widespread public concern, came to light after the children’s father, Samuel Alozie—popularly known on TikTok as Promise Samuel—shared videos online showing the lifeless bodies of his sons in separate body bags. In the videos, he alleged that the twins became critically ill shortly after they were vaccinated.
According to Alozie, the twins were taken for immunisation on the morning of December 24, 2025. He said the children began to show unusual symptoms almost immediately, becoming weak, inactive, and unable to eat or play. A nurse at the health facility reportedly advised the parents to administer paracetamol if the babies developed a fever.
Alozie said the advice was followed and the children were also bathed in cold water, but their condition worsened overnight. By the morning of December 25, both children were dead.
Struggling with the loss, the grieving father questioned claims allegedly made by health workers that food-related bacteria may have caused the deaths, insisting that the twins had been healthy prior to the immunisation.
In response, the Lagos State Government said a postmortem examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death. State health authorities and the police are jointly investigating the incident.
A state official expressed sympathy with the family but urged patience, noting that the vaccine involved has been administered to many children without similar incidents. The official added that findings from the postmortem would be crucial in addressing public fears and restoring confidence in routine immunisation programmes.
The government said it remains committed to transparency as investigations continue.
