Ayo Labinjoh, who claims to be the mother of a child allegedly fathered by Afrobeats star Davido, has reacted strongly to recent comments made by the singer’s father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, amid the renewed paternity controversy.
Labinjoh took to social media to express frustration over the ongoing public attention surrounding the issue and its impact on her daughter, Anuoluwapo. Her response followed a press conference in Abuja where Dr. Adeleke dismissed the paternity claims as false and accused social media personality Kemi Olunloyo of impersonating both the child and her mother to sustain the allegations.
According to Labinjoh, the matter resurfaced after an Instagram account allegedly linked to her daughter appealed to Davido to undergo another DNA test. Davido has repeatedly maintained that he has taken five DNA tests in the past, all of which reportedly returned negative results.
In her statement, Labinjoh expressed disappointment over reports that her sister, Titi Labinjoh, had been in contact with Dr. Adeleke since the COVID-19 pandemic. She said her family had advised against engaging with the issue publicly, stressing concerns about the emotional toll on her daughter.
Addressing Dr. Adeleke directly, Labinjoh argued that as the family patriarch, he should not be speaking on Davido’s behalf. She called for the issue to be handled with sensitivity and respect for all parties involved, particularly the child at the center of the controversy.
She also demanded clarity and transparency, urging that the results of the DNA tests already conducted be made public to put an end to speculation. Labinjoh added that appropriate authorities should be informed if any harm comes to her, her daughter, or her mother.
As reactions continue to trail the development, the long-running paternity dispute remains a subject of intense public debate, highlighting the challenges that arise when deeply personal issues unfold under widespread media scrutiny.
