Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the eldest son of former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) national leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has formally resigned from his position as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Kano State.
The announcement was made public on Monday in a statement shared on Mustapha Kwankwaso’s official Facebook page, signaling another high-profile exit from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s cabinet amid ongoing political shifts in the state.
In the message, Mustapha Kwankwaso described his departure from the State Executive Council as a deeply emotional decision, expressing both gratitude and optimism. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and member of the Kano State Executive Council,” the statement read, capturing his sincere tone of farewell.
He extended warm appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I appreciate the trust placed in me,” Kwankwaso added.
Mustapha Kwankwaso also used the statement to underscore his hopes for the future of youth and sports programmes in the state. “As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve. I hope for the best for our sports development programmes and initiatives, and I am confident that they will flourish in the years to come,” he said, stressing the importance of sustained commitment to these sectors.
He concluded his resignation note with a prayer for the state’s wellbeing and leadership, imploring divine blessings for Kano’s progress. “May Allah (SWT) continue to shower His blessings on our beloved Kano State. I wish the government and people of Kano State all the best,” Mustapha Kwankwaso said.
