Former First Lady of Ondo State, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu (Ada Owere 1), has expressed her unwavering support for the Obidient Movement during a recent speech at its inauguration in Owerri Municipal LGA. Although she was unable to attend in person due to prior commitments, her aide, Prince Joseph Nwosu-Okoire, delivered her message to an enthusiastic crowd.
“I proudly declare that I am Obidient. I stand firmly on Obi or nothing,” Dr. Akeredolu affirmed, emphasizing her commitment to Peter Obi’s vision for Nigeria. She highlighted that Obi represents the leadership the nation urgently needs, based on the principles of “Character, Competence, and Capacity.”
Dr. Akeredolu criticized the current political climate, stating, “The Obidients phenomenon has become both an enigma to Nigeria and a nightmare to politicians who wish to preserve the status quo—a system marked by poor infrastructure, food insecurity, human rights violations, insecurity, corruption, impunity, and widespread hardship.”
Motivated by a vision for change, she announced her intention to run for the Imo East Senatorial District (Owerri Zone) seat in the upcoming 2027 elections, urging the audience to join her in building a new Imo State and a new Nigeria.
“Together, let us build a new Owerri zone. Together, let us build a new Imo. Together, let us build a new Nigeria,” she declared, inspiring attendees with her plans for impactful leadership.
Dr. Akeredolu outlined her extensive experience in public service, advocacy, and entrepreneurship, citing her achievements through various initiatives, including the BEMORE Empowered Girls Foundation, which has empowered thousands of girls in STEM, ICT, and leadership. “This is practical empowerment—giving our girls tools, skills, and sustained access to opportunity,” she emphasized.
Her dedication to public service extends to health initiatives and social inclusion, making her a strong aspirant for the senatorial seat.
