Bandits Kill Four Villagers in Zamfara Over Refusal to Pay Illegal Levies

At least four residents of Gwargwaba village in the Nahuce District of Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State, were killed on Thursday evening after armed bandits launched a deadly attack on the community.

According to security analyst Bakatsine, the assailants, described as heavily armed, invaded the village at about 6:00 p.m., setting several homes ablaze. Four villagers were reportedly trapped inside their houses and burned to death during the attack.

The attackers also destroyed food reserves and slaughtered livestock belonging to residents, further worsening the devastation left behind.

Bakatsine said the assault was triggered by the villagers’ refusal to comply with illegal levies imposed by the bandits. The rejection allegedly angered the criminals, leading to the violent reprisal.

Sharing details of the incident on X, the analyst stated that the attackers deliberately targeted the community after the residents resisted the extortion demands, resulting in loss of lives and widespread destruction of property.
