Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has expelled no fewer than 15 female students for acts of indiscipline, including the production and circulation of sex-related videos that violated the institution’s code of conduct.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, disclosed this on Friday during the university’s matriculation ceremony, where 936 newly admitted students formally took their oaths.
Addressing the students, Ayorinde warned against conduct capable of jeopardising their academic careers, stressing that the university maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward indiscipline. He cautioned students against misusing social media and engaging in activities that could bring the institution into disrepute.
According to him, several students had already been dismissed for offences ranging from the creation of explicit videos to drug-related activities. He revealed that one student, who was close to graduation, was also expelled after making statements deemed threatening and inappropriate, with his tuition fees refunded.
Ayorinde further recalled that in 2025, the university dismissed 17 students for attempting to fraudulently obtain examination clearance without paying their fees. He added that the institution also frowns at bullying, fighting, alcohol consumption, and any form of sexual misconduct, noting that offenders would face strict sanctions.
He urged parents and guardians to properly guide their wards and ensure they remain focused on their studies.
In his remarks, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amos Aremu, said the university prioritises discipline, academic integrity, and quality assurance. He advised the new students to see their admission as an opportunity for personal growth, leadership development, and societal contribution.
Aremu noted that while university life comes with academic and personal challenges, such experiences are meant to build resilience, critical thinking, and character, preparing students to make meaningful impacts in society.
