Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has said political activities ahead of the 2027 general election will not disrupt the execution of ongoing projects in Abuja.
Wike made the statement on Wednesday while inspecting several infrastructure projects across the territory. He said he is capable of managing political responsibilities alongside governance duties, stressing that service delivery to residents remains his priority.
According to the minister, politics has its own timeline and will not interfere with development efforts. He noted that timely payment and regular supervision of contractors are critical to the successful completion of projects.
Wike assured residents that political considerations would not slow down progress, adding that ongoing projects are aimed at making the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda visible and impactful.
During the inspection, the minister expressed satisfaction with the construction of the road linking Baze University, the Body of Benchers, Nile University, and the Wupa Light Rail Station in the Idu area of Abuja. He said the contractor has promised to complete the project by May, in time for its inauguration during the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He also inspected the Body of Benchers extension building, describing the project as about 80 percent complete, with only landscaping remaining.
In addition, Wike visited the site of a 7-kilometre road project linking Airport Road to Tunga Madaki and surrounding communities. He said the project fulfills a commitment made by the FCT Administration to residents of the area.
