The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated a new radio station, Majority FM 89.5, aimed at promoting the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in Rivers State.
The station is located within the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This initiative comes amid the increased political activities regarding President Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign in the South-South region. Wike, who formerly served as the governor of Rivers State, officiated the station’s launch.
Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, posted a video of the inauguration event held at the Rivers State Secretariat of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt.
Majority FM 89.5 is equipped with multiple studios for interviews and a maintenance unit.
During the event, Wike conveyed that the radio station symbolizes support for President Tinubu’s objectives.
“It’s not in the newspapers. Our commitment shows that we are indeed working for President Ahmed Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to rally support for him; we have the capability to organize ourselves independently.
“There are no governors present here. We have senators, assembly members, council chairmen, national assembly representatives, and party leaders from both the APC and PDP.
“We have come together to pledge our support because if you claim to back someone, you shouldn’t wait for them to provide resources. You must take the initiative, and that’s what our leaders have done. I want to thank all of you once again,” Wike stated.
Last week, Wike cautioned that he and his supporters would forcibly enter the Yakubu Gowon Stadium for their next rally if the Rivers State Government continues to deny them access, asserting that “nothing will happen” if the facility is damaged.
He made this declaration in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of senatorial and local government coordinators for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, an event focused on supporting President Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike noted that his group had formally requested permission from the state government to use the Yakubu Gowon Stadium but was denied access, deeming the refusal unprecedented.
“We applied to the state government to use the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, and they turned us down. If we apply again and are refused, we will take it by force, and nothing will happen,” Wike proclaimed.
He asserted that Rivers State is taking the lead in political mobilization and will continue to set an example in demonstrating support for the President.
