President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to embark on a one-day official visit to Kebbi State on Saturday, where he will commission several key projects delivered by the state government under the administration of Governor Nasir Idris.
As part of the visit, the President will also serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, underscoring the Federal Government’s support for Nigeria’s cultural heritage and tourism sector.
The Argungu Festival, regarded as one of Africa’s most celebrated cultural events, draws thousands of visitors from within Nigeria and abroad each year. The festival features traditional fishing contests, cultural music and dance performances, and exhibitions of indigenous crafts that reflect the rich traditions of Kebbi State.
The event is traditionally held along the riverside at the historic Matan Fada area in Argungu. The festival’s global significance has been heightened by its recognition by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as part of the world’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, further strengthening its status as a major tourism attraction for Nigeria.
