Troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), operating under Operation HADIN KAI, have neutralised scores of terrorists and recovered weapons and logistical items during sustained operations across the region under Operation DESERT SANITY V.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the task force, disclosed this on Friday, noting that troops have continued offensive campaigns across multiple sectors, achieving significant operational gains.
He revealed that in Sector 2, soldiers, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, carried out a night raid around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages, successfully neutralising a large number of terrorists.
During the operation, two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles, and mobile phones were seized.
Further inspections along the militants’ retreat route uncovered drag marks and a shallow grave, suggesting additional enemy casualties.
In Sector 1, troops engaged fleeing terrorists along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis on the Main Supply Route.
The insurgents reportedly abandoned two sacks containing assorted logistical supplies suspected to be meant for terrorist use.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba said the general security situation in the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, stressing that the troops’ morale and operational effectiveness remain high as they continue to dominate their areas of responsibility and disrupt terrorist activities.
The task force assured residents of its determination to sustain pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP militants until lasting peace and economic stability are fully restored across the North East.
