A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of two men at a correctional facility for allegedly assaulting police officers and two residents.
The accused persons are Awolusi Babatunde, 45, and Awolusi Oluwaseun, 23.
The Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, however, admitted the third defendant, Awolusi Mary, 42, to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the trio, residing at Gloryland Avenue, Ajebamidele, Ado-Ekiti, allegedly committed the offences on February 11, 2026, around 10:00 a.m.
Oriyomi told the court that the defendants conspired to unlawfully assault three police officers, ASP Ogunleye Taiwo, W/Insp. Adejoh Esther, and W/Insp. Omozuafo Juliet, while the officers were in uniform and discharging their lawful duties.
He further alleged that Oluwaseun committed a felony by inflicting grievous harm on one Agunbiade Kehinde, whom he allegedly slashed on the back with a razor blade.
The prosecutor added that the three defendants also assaulted Agunbiade Precious and Agunbiade Kehinde.
According to him, the offences are punishable under Sections 421, 184, and 187 of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021.
The defence counsel, Barrister Akinwumi Tumise, pleaded with the court to grant his clients bail, promising that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, however, ordered that Babatunde and Oluwaseun be remanded at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre pending the next hearing.
He adjourned the case till February 20, 2026, for further hearing.
