The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that the registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will close on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with no plans to extend the deadline.
The Board urged candidates to complete their registration promptly to avoid missing the exam.
In a notice issued, JAMB stated that the sale of e-PINs, which are required for registration, will end at midnight on February 26.
Candidates who have already purchased e-PINs are expected to finish their registration at accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres by Saturday, February 28.
The Board revealed that more than 1.5 million candidates have already registered across the country.
However, many registration centres are reportedly operating at only about 30 per cent of their daily capacity, suggesting that a significant number of eligible candidates have yet to enrol.
JAMB emphasised that it can process up to 100,000 candidates daily, a capacity far higher than the current turnout at centres nationwide.
“The Board wishes to make it clear that there will be no extension of the registration deadline,” it stated.
JAMB explained that the UTME timetable is part of a coordinated national calendar, carefully planned to allow smooth progression to subsequent public examinations.
The Board added that the registration window was designed to ensure candidates have adequate time to register without affecting other exams.
“There is no possibility for any extension, even if the Board wished to consider one,” it said.
JAMB warned that candidates who delay registration until the final days may face unnecessary difficulties and reiterated that no appeals will be entertained after the deadline.
To prevent last-minute setbacks, the Board urged all prospective candidates to obtain their e-PINs immediately and complete registration at accredited centres.
“All candidates are advised to act without delay,” the statement concluded.
