Social media influencer, Abike Raheem, widely known as Papaya Ex, has alleged that she was assaulted by a police officer during a late-night stop in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
The content creator made the claim in a tearful TikTok live broadcast on Friday, stating that the incident occurred while she was on her way home from a film shoot.
Recounting the episode, she said a routine stop by the officer initially appeared calm but later turned confrontational. She alleged that the officer physically attacked her and also manhandled her driver during the altercation.
Papaya Ex further claimed that the officer confiscated her mobile phone and engaged in inappropriate conduct. She said she sustained injuries in the process and showed what appeared to be a mark on her face during the live session.
Though the alleged assault was not recorded, she attributed the lack of footage to network failure at the time.
In a separate clip that has since surfaced online, a voice believed to be that of a police officer was heard amid a heated argument.
The claims could not be independently confirmed as of the time this report was filed.
In the viral videos, the influencer appeared visibly shaken as she alleged that harassment by security operatives was not uncommon in the Ajah area.
The development has triggered reactions across social media platforms, with several users urging the authorities to probe the allegations.
As of press time, the Lagos State Police Command had not released any official response to the claims.
