The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody some of its personnel allegedly connected to the shooting that claimed the lives of two residents in the AIT axis of Alagbado on Friday.
It was learnt that the incident happened when policemen reportedly trailed suspected internet fraud suspects, popularly known as “Yahoo boys,” around the community.
During the operation, shots were said to have been fired, resulting in the death of two unsuspecting passersby.
The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development, noting that the officers implicated in the incident had been arrested.
In a statement posted on her X handle, she described the occurrence as regrettable and assured members of the public that the matter was receiving urgent attention.
“The officers involved in the unfortunate shooting incident that occurred today (Friday) in Alagbado have been arrested and taken into custody,” she stated.
Adebisi further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police had ordered a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
She added that security personnel had been strategically deployed to maintain peace and prevent any disruption of public order.
She assured residents that calm had been restored in the area and pledged that the outcome of the investigation would be made known, stressing that justice would take its course.
