Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the Ondo State Government over the alleged use of a commercial tricycle as an ambulance, describing the situation as unacceptable for an oil-producing state.
Sowore, in a post shared on his verified facbook account on Saturday, expressed outrage over what he described as the poor state of emergency medical response in the state, lamenting that residents in medical distress were reportedly being transported in tricycles.
The activist questioned why a state that benefits from oil derivation funds could allow such a development, insisting that Ondo State was neither financially insolvent nor facing conditions that should justify inadequate healthcare logistics.
Sowore further criticised the administration of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, arguing that the development portrayed a worrying decline in public healthcare infrastructure.
He wrote: “Lawd! Never again should this kind of affliction befall Ondo State.
“An oil-producing state reduced to using a Kéké as an ambulance? Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa presides over a state that receives derivation funds from oil revenue. Ondo is not bankrupt. Ondo is not landlocked. Ondo is not a war zone.
“Yet, citizens in medical distress are transported in tricycles? Damn! IT IS FINISHED!
