Several residents of a Banana Island apartment in Lagos were left trapped in a lift, sparking panic and distress among occupants.
A video shared on X by a user named Anthony on Monday captured the trapped residents sweating and visibly anxious inside the elevator.
According to the post, the incident took place at a building near Banana Island School Apartment.
Efforts by the residents to get help reportedly involved contacting the landlord’s daughter, who allegedly responded that the management would “see what they could do.”
In his post, Anthony wrote, “We are stuck in the lift at Banana Island School Apartment. It has been almost 40 minutes. We are suffocating in here, and no one seems to be taking action.
We reached out to the landlady’s daughter, and she said they will see what they can do. Can you believe that?”
The situation has raised concerns about the safety and maintenance of elevators in high-end residential complexes in Lagos.
