Four members of the House of Representatives have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, disclosed the development during Wednesday’s plenary after reading the defection letters submitted by the affected lawmakers.
Three of the defectors Inuwa Garuba representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State, Abdullahi El-Rasheed of Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency, and Mohammed Audu representing Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency of Taraba State moved from the PDP to the APC.
Another lawmaker, Obika Chinedu, who represents Abuja Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency of the Federal Capital Territory, also left the Labour Party for the APC.
The lawmakers attributed their decision to ongoing internal disputes within their former political parties.
Meanwhile, Adewale Adebayo, the lawmaker representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State, announced his defection from the PDP to the Accord Party.
