A 16-year-old boy, Emmanuel Danladi, has allegedly killed his 15-year-old friend, Titus Joseph, after picking up a loaded dane gun belonging to his father, Danladi Baba, a member of a local vigilante group in Suleja, Niger State.
The incident reportedly occurred on March 1 at Emmanuel’s home in Kwamba, Suleja Local Government Area, while the two boys were playing. The firearm discharged at close range, striking Titus in the stomach and causing his death.
Police officers from the Maje Division responded to the scene and transported the victim’s body to Suleja General Hospital. Emmanuel and his father were arrested for alleged negligence and culpable homicide, while the weapon used in the shooting was seized as evidence.
Both suspects were later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna, where the case remains under investigation pending prosecution.
Confirming the incident, Niger State Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun said, “On March 1, a report was received that Emmanuel Danladi, 16, was playing with his friend, Titus Joseph, 15, when he picked a loaded dane gun belonging to his father, Danladi Baba, 51, a vigilante member, and shot Titus at close range. Police responded, the body was taken to Suleja General Hospital, and the suspects were arrested.
The firearm was recovered, and they were transferred to SCID, Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.”
