Troops under Operation Safe Haven have successfully foiled an attempted abduction and rescued a cleric in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident was revealed on Saturday by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X.
According to the report, suspected kidnappers stormed the residence of a cleric, Rev. Nuhu Anche, in Ningishe Village in the early hours of March 14 in an attempt to abduct him.
Makama noted that troops stationed at Ungwan Gora quickly mobilised after receiving a distress call about the attack.
The security personnel reportedly rushed to the scene, disrupting the operation and forcing the assailants to abandon the mission and flee the area.
A security source was quoted as saying that the swift intervention of the troops prevented the kidnappers from taking the victim.
The cleric, who serves with the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ, was safely rescued during the operation.
He was later taken to the General Hospital in Gwantu, where he received medical care after the incident.
Following the development, security operatives have stepped up patrols and surveillance across neighbouring communities to prevent further criminal activities.
