A Lagos-based woman, Osarobo Odigie, has filed a lawsuit against popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, seeking ₦395 million in damages over alleged defamation, cyber harassment, and invasion of privacy.
In a pre-action letter dated March 10, 2026, and signed by Bola Osineye of FA Garrick & Co., Odigie’s lawyers accused the influencer of verbally abusing their client and recording her without consent during an altercation at Folixxx Lounge along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos State.
According to the letter, the incident occurred in the early hours of January 6, 2026, when Odigie visited the lounge to purchase food. While standing at the counter, she was allegedly startled by Peller’s loud outburst behind her. After she stepped aside due to the noise, the influencer reportedly confronted her and questioned her actions.
The lawyers alleged that Peller then verbally abused Odigie using derogatory Yoruba expressions before recording the confrontation with his mobile phone. The video was later shared across several social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Snapchat, without her consent.
The legal team said the video quickly went viral due to Peller’s large online following, attracting thousands of comments and exposing their client to cyberbullying, ridicule, and alleged threats to her safety.
Odigie is demanding ₦395 million in damages, including ₦200 million for alleged defamation, ₦100 million for emotional trauma and reputational harm, ₦75 million for distress caused by online harassment, and ₦20 million for legal costs.
Her lawyers also demanded that Peller remove the video from all social media platforms, issue a public apology, and publish the apology in two national newspapers — The PUNCH and The Guardian.
They further warned that failure to comply within seven days would result in formal legal proceedings.
The lawsuit follows the widely circulated video of the confrontation, after which Peller issued a public apology on January 9, acknowledging that his reaction during the incident was inappropriate and expressing regret over the situation.
