Residents Of Akwa Ibom State Lament Fuel Price Hike, Prolonged Blackout

Residents of Akwa Ibom State have expressed frustration over the sudden increase in fuel prices and the persistent electricity blackout affecting communities across the state.

Many residents, particularly business owners, say the situation is worsening their economic hardship as they struggle to keep their businesses running. The lack of electricity has forced many to rely heavily on petrol-powered generators, further increasing operating costs due to the rising fuel prices.

Small-scale traders and artisans say the combined impact of the power outage and expensive fuel is affecting productivity and reducing profits. Some residents also complained that the prolonged blackout has disrupted daily activities and made living conditions more difficult.

Concerned citizens have called on relevant authorities and power distribution companies to urgently address the electricity problem while also taking steps to stabilise fuel prices to ease the burden on residents.
