A former governor of Bayelsa State and senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, has said many Nigerians are increasingly frustrated with the current situation in the country and are yearning for political change ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dickson made the remark on Monday in Abuja during the unveiling of the digital membership registration portal of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
The event was attended by party leaders, including the National Chairman, Cleopas Moses, and the National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, alongside several state chairmen and other stakeholders.
Speaking on the country’s political atmosphere, Dickson said many citizens were dissatisfied with the current system and were seeking credible alternatives.
According to him, the NDC offers a platform through which Nigerians can pursue the change they desire, stressing that the party was founded to promote ideological politics and national development.
The senator likened the emergence of the party to the biblical story of Noah’s Ark, urging Nigerians who desire genuine political transformation to align with the movement early.
He also noted that the introduction of an electronic membership registration platform was designed to modernise the party’s operations and encourage participation from Nigerians both within the country and in the diaspora.
Dickson added that although the party was newly established, it had begun gaining support across the country and was already building structures at the state, local government and ward levels.
The unveiling of the portal came shortly after the lawmaker announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing internal crises and leadership challenges within the opposition party.
