Armed bandits on Monday launched another attack on Oyate community in the Oro-Ago Divisional area of Ifelodun Locap Government Area, Kwara State.
This marks the second attempted assault on the community within two weeks, following a similar attack that disrupted Friday prayers but was repelled by local security operatives.
During Monday’s attack, the bandits reportedly fired sporadically in an attempt to intimidate residents, but their efforts did not succeed.
Security sources said the assailants crossed into Kwara from neighbouring Kogi State, taking advantage of the shared border to target towns and villages in the area.
The attacks have continued despite the ongoing ‘Operation Savannah Shield’ launched by the Nigerian Army to curb criminal activities and enhance security in the state.
Residents expressed fear over the repeated incursions, urging security agencies to intensify patrols and protect communities from further raids.
Authorities have vowed to track down the perpetrators and strengthen surveillance along vulnerable border areas to prevent future attacks.
