Professor Charles Soludo has been officially sworn in for a second term as Governor of Anambra State, following a ceremony held on Tuesday at the refurbished Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
The governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, took the oath of office in the presence of top national and state figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Several other governors and prominent dignitaries also witnessed the historic event.
Soludo’s second-term inauguration comes after he was declared the winner of the November 8, 2025, governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He received a total of 422,664 votes, comfortably defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, who garnered 99,445 votes.
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, finished third with 37,753 votes.
The event formally marked the start of Soludo’s renewed tenure, with expectations high for the continuation of his developmental policies and governance agenda across the state.
