Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticised media personality and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dele Momodu, for likening President Bola Tinubu to the late military ruler, Sani Abacha.
Momodu made the comparison during a Sunday interview, describing Tinubu’s leadership as dictatorial, a remark that has since generated reactions across political circles.
Reacting on X, Fani-Kayode dismissed the comparison as “unfair and disrespectful,” not only to the president but also to other government officials.
“I have immense respect for Dele, but he sounded drained and spoke little sense in that interview,” Fani-Kayode wrote. “He should consider taking a break from politics and commentary to regain perspective.”
He further accused Momodu of undermining the intelligence of Nigerians and disrespecting key government figures, including the vice president, ministers, lawmakers, and newly appointed ambassadors.
Fani-Kayode also directed his criticism at the ADC, urging its leadership to focus on building a credible opposition ahead of the 2027 elections rather than attacking the ruling government.
Describing the party’s current state, he said: “The ADC is like a poorly patched inflatable boat. It has no engine, no sails, no crew, no direction, and is ill-prepared to face the rough seas of Nigerian politics.”
He concluded that for the ADC to be taken seriously, it must develop focus, discipline, and capacity to operate effectively as a political force.
