The Kebbi State Government has established a panel to investigate the death of two children at the General Hospital in Zuru.
This was made known on Thursday through a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki.
The statement indicated that Governor Nasir Idris authorised the formation of the committee to look into the incident involving the deceased children, believed to be from the same family.
Heading the panel is the Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Ahmed, while the Commissioners for Health and Establishment, Sama’ila Augie and Manu Dogondaji, will serve as members.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Zaki Abubakar Zaki, is to serve as secretary of the committee.
According to the government, the panel is expected to determine both the immediate and underlying causes of the deaths, amid claims that the victims may have been administered an inappropriate injection.
It will also identify those involved, establish accountability where necessary, and propose measures to prevent a recurrence.
The committee has been directed to commence its assignment immediately and submit its findings within one week.
