Akure Residents Praise Governor Aiyedatiwa as Onyearugbulem-Irese Flyover Nears Completion

Residents of Akure have commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for the near completion of the Onyearugbulem-Irese flyover, a critical infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow and road safety in the Ondo State capital.

Governor Aiyedatiwa inspected the construction site on Saturday, accompanied by members of his cabinet and aides, and expressed satisfaction with the progress. The flyover, initially flagged off by former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, represents the first major flyover project of its kind in Akure.

Residents who expressed relief and appreciation for the government’s commitment:

Adedayo Femi said, “At first, we thought the project had been abandoned, but now, with 95% completion, we are pleased that Governor Aiyedatiwa continues the work of his predecessor. We sincerely appreciate his efforts.”

Morenikeji Akinrogunde noted, “This flyover will help reduce accidents in one of Akure’s busiest roads, connecting key regions. Akeredolu started it, and Aiyedatiwa is ensuring it is completed. To God be the glory.”

Olubunmi Oyesanmi added, “The governor is changing the narrative. I was impressed by the progress and reminded my husband not to trust social media rumours. The government has demonstrated its commitment.”

The administration highlighted that the flyover is expected to facilitate smoother commerce, reduce travel time, and enhance safety for both motorists and pedestrians. This infrastructure effort is part of a broader commitment to sustainable development, which includes the planned revamp of the 30 MW tri-fuel independent power plant in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.

The Ondo State Government has assured residents of the timely completion of the project, underscoring its focus on efficient governance, public safety, and the economic growth of the state.
