Foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) nations have expressed readiness to take decisive steps to protect global energy supplies amid rising tensions linked to the ongoing crisis involving Iran.
In a joint statement issued on Saturday, the ministers reaffirmed the importance of securing critical maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, which remains vital to international oil shipments.
The G7, comprising Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and the United States, alongside the European Union’s top diplomat, condemned what they described as “unjustifiable attacks” attributed to Iran and allied groups in the region.
The ministers stated their support for regional partners affected by the developments, stressing the need for collective efforts to maintain stability in global energy markets.
They also strongly criticised attacks targeting civilians and key infrastructure, including energy facilities, warning that such actions threaten international economic stability.
The statement underscores growing concerns among leading economies over disruptions to oil supply routes, as tensions in the Middle East continue to impact global markets.
