A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, has alleged that Bola Ahmed Tinubu plans to relocate Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if he is re-elected in the 2027 presidential election.
Frank made the claim in a statement on Monday, accusing the administration of pursuing what he described as a “Lagos-centric agenda.”
According to him, several key decisions of the current administration appear to favour Lagos State, suggesting a deliberate effort to concentrate political and economic power in the city.
Frank argued that the trend of federal appointments and development projects under the present government has been largely one-sided and could undermine national unity.
“We do not want a president who is one-sided,” he said.
He questioned the government’s commitment to balanced national development, asking about agreements and policies targeted at sectors such as agriculture and livestock in northern Nigeria, industrial development in the South-East, and oil and gas advancement in the South-South.
Frank further alleged that the current administration has deepened regional and ethnic divisions across the country.
He warned that the situation could lead to growing feelings of marginalisation among Nigerians if not addressed.
According to him, there is increasing concern among citizens that some regions may be economically weakened ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
The presidency has not yet responded publicly to the claims.
