Former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said that Nigeria is currently facing more serious challenges than when the president assumed office in 2023.
Baba-Ahmed made the remark during an interview on Trust TV, where he spoke on the country’s current economic and security situation.
According to him, insecurity and violence have worsened significantly in recent years, contrary to expectations when the administration took office.
“We are in deeper trouble than when you came. Violence is becoming a lot more serious than we anticipated. Three years into President Tinubu’s presidency, we are seeing an escalation in the pattern of violence and its magnitude and impact on our people,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed noted that Tinubu came into office with promises to address insecurity and improve living conditions for Nigerians, but argued that the administration has not met those expectations.
He added that the recent trip by the president and a delegation of government officials to the United Kingdom came shortly after a deadly attack in Borno State, which he described as one of the most disturbing incidents in recent times.
The former presidential aide lamented the worsening security situation, stressing that the scale and impact of violent attacks across the country have become increasingly alarming.
