The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three men, including a pastor, for allegedly possessing and trading suspected human parts in Ibadan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the suspects were apprehended during a stop-and-search operation along the Adekile area of Agugu.
According to the statement, a patrol team intercepted an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle. During a search of the motorcycle, officers discovered a package containing flesh suspected to be human intestines.
The pillion rider, identified as Oyategbe Joseph, was immediately arrested at the scene. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed that he obtained the suspected human parts from an unidentified individual in the Oritaperin area of Ibadan.
Joseph further admitted that he sold the items to two buyers, identified as Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo, 46, and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, 55.
Acting on the information provided, the police quickly tracked down and arrested the two suspects. Authorities said both men also confessed to purchasing the suspected human parts from Joseph.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Police authorities said the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
The Oyo State Police Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, emphasizing that community cooperation is essential in maintaining law and order.
