The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress States Assembly Forum, Dagogo Fubara, has accused the All Progressives Congress of denying some aspirants nomination forms despite meeting all required conditions.
Fubara made the allegation on Tuesday during a live interview on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television.
According to him, several aspirants had already paid the required fees and completed the party’s screening process but were unable to obtain the nomination forms because the organisers claimed they had run out of copies.
“After paying for the forms and fulfilling all the necessary requirements, we were denied the opportunity to get the aspirant nomination forms,” he said.
Fubara explained that they had paid the required fees, undergone clearance, and were approved according to the rules guiding the party’s convention. However, when they proceeded to the organising department to collect the forms, they were informed that the available copies had been exhausted.
He expressed disappointment over the situation, noting that the system had been in place since 2012 and was expected to give more young members the opportunity to participate in the party’s activities.
Fubara added that members, particularly those from the Action Congress of Nigeria bloc within the party, believed they were well positioned to contest for elective positions.
He said it was surprising that a few individuals within the party structure claimed the nomination forms had been exhausted after aspirants had already met all the requirements.
The development comes amid preparations for the upcoming national convention of the All Progressives Congress.
