The Labour Party (Nigeria) has postponed its planned ward, local government, and state congresses and set up a 46-member committee to organise its upcoming national convention.
The decision was announced by the party leadership as part of efforts to ensure proper preparations and coordination ahead of the convention.
According to the party, the newly constituted committee will oversee all activities leading to the national convention, including logistics, planning, and supervision of the electoral process within the party.
Party officials said the move is aimed at strengthening internal democracy and ensuring a transparent process that would produce credible leaders for the party.
The leadership explained that postponing the congresses would give members and stakeholders more time to properly organise and participate in the process.
The committee is expected to work closely with key organs of the party to deliver a successful national convention and reposition the Labour Party (Nigeria) ahead of future political contests.
