Wizkid, Ayra Starr, Niko Omilana Win Big at 2026 MOBO Awards

Nigerian music stars Wizkid and Ayra Starr, alongside British-Nigerian media personality Niko Omilana, were among the standout winners at the 2026 MOBO Awards held in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Wizkid secured the Best African Music Act award, beating fellow Nigerian artists including Davido, Rema, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, and Shallipopi.

Ayra Starr emerged winner of the Best International Act, triumphing over global names such as Cardi B, Gunna, and Kehlani.

In the media category, Niko Omilana was named Best Media Personality, beating nominees like Bemi Orojuogun (Bus Aunty) and Remi Burgz.

The event also featured strong Nigerian representation across nominations. German-Nigerian artist Odeal received nods in the Best Male Act and Best R&B/Soul Act categories. In film and television, British-Nigerian actors including Wunmi Mosaku, Damson Idris, Dayo Koleosho, and Cynthia Erivo were nominated for Best Performance in a TV Show/Film.

Among other major winners, Olivia Dean dominated the night, winning Best Female Act, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, while Jim Legxacy took home Best Male Act.

Special honours were also presented, with Slick Rick receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Pharrell Williams winning the Global Songwriter Award.

The 2026 edition of the MOBO Awards celebrated Black music and culture on a global scale, highlighting the growing influence of African artists on the international stage.
