The Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi has barred a member of the House of Representatives, Lukman Mudashiru, from entering his palace in Iwo over allegations of neglecting traditional institutions in the area.
Mudashiru, who represents the Ayedire/Iwo/Olaoluwa Federal Constituency under the Accord Party, was accused by the monarch of failing to maintain engagement with the palace and the cultural heritage structures of Iwoland.
In a statement shared via his official Facebook page, the monarch expressed dissatisfaction with the lawmaker’s conduct, stating that elected representatives in the district are expected to show respect and accountability to traditional authorities.
The Oluwo emphasized that political office holders have a duty to regularly update and relate with the traditional leadership, describing the palace as a central institution that commands respect within the community.
The monarch also noted that he had earlier endorsed another indigene of Iwo, Ayodeji Bello, who is seeking the Accord party ticket for the same federal constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to the development, Mudashiru described the situation as a family matter, expressing confidence that it would be resolved amicably between both parties.
