Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has reportedly dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party and directed members of his Kwankwasiyya Movement to join the African Democratic Congress.
According to a statement attributed to the Kwankwasiyya Movement spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Mohammad, Kwankwaso is set to formally join the ADC on March 30, 2026, at his residence in Kano. The move is said to be part of efforts to strengthen his political base ahead of future political engagements.
The statement also instructed loyalists of the Kwankwasiyya Movement across Nigeria to proceed with registering with the ADC at their respective wards, local government areas, and states. Members were further encouraged to actively participate in party activities and contribute to the growth and success of the new platform.
Kwankwaso’s reported decision follows a strategic meeting held with notable political figures, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson.
The political realignment is seen as a significant development in Nigeria’s opposition landscape, potentially reshaping alliances and strategies ahead of future elections.
