Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has alleged that the United States is secretly planning a ground attack on Iran despite ongoing diplomatic discussions aimed at de-escalating the conflict.
In a statement reported by Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, Ghalibaf claimed that while the US publicly promotes negotiation and dialogue, it is simultaneously preparing for military action on the ground. He warned that Iranian forces are ready to respond strongly to any such move.
His remarks come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following a month-long conflict that began after coordinated airstrikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. The strikes reportedly led to significant casualties, including high-level leadership losses, and triggered wider regional instability.
The ongoing conflict has also disrupted global shipping routes, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage through which a significant portion of the world’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas is transported. Maritime activity in the area has reportedly slowed due to security concerns.
Ghalibaf urged national unity, describing the situation as a major global confrontation at a critical stage. He expressed confidence in Iran’s ability to defend its sovereignty and respond decisively to any further aggression.
The developments highlight rising geopolitical tensions and growing concerns over potential escalation in the region as diplomatic efforts continue alongside military posturing.
