An American citizen, Eyal Yakoby, has sparked widespread reactions after visiting the scene of a deadly attack in Jos and releasing a video criticising President Bola Tinubu.
In the viral footage, reportedly recorded after the incident in Rukuba, Yakoby alleged that more than 10 people, whom he described as innocent Christians, were killed during the overnight assault, which occurred on Palm Sunday.
He questioned the federal government’s response to recurring violence and accused authorities of failing to protect vulnerable communities. Yakoby also issued a warning, urging decisive action to address insecurity.
The video has generated mixed reactions across Nigeria. While many condemned the foreign national’s comments as inappropriate and an overstep of diplomatic boundaries, others viewed it as a reflection of growing frustration over persistent insecurity, particularly in Plateau State.
As of the time of reporting, the presidency and relevant security agencies have not issued any official response to the incident or the remarks made in the video.
