Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed reports claiming he resigned from office to pursue the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
In a statement released by his media team on Tuesday, the minister described the viral reports as “fake news” and politically misleading, insisting that he remains fully in office and committed to his responsibilities.
The speculation followed a directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requiring political appointees with electoral ambitions to resign by March 31. Adelabu had been widely mentioned as a potential contender in the upcoming Oyo governorship race, fueling expectations that he would step down.
However, his decision to remain in office signals what observers describe as a possible strategic shift or delay in his political plans.
