The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed reports claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed, describing the information as false and misleading.
In a statement released on Saturday, the board clarified that the alleged press release circulating online did not originate from JAMB and should be ignored by candidates and the public.
According to the board, preparations for the examination are proceeding as planned, with the UTME still scheduled to take place from April 16 to April 25, 2026.
JAMB’s response follows confusion sparked by the recent mock UTME conducted on March 28, which experienced technical issues in some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.
Out of over 224,000 candidates who registered for the mock exam, about 152,000 were able to sit for the test across 989 centres. The board also revealed that more than 20 centres affected by technical failures have since been removed due to inadequate facilities.
JAMB reassured candidates that necessary steps are being taken to ensure a smooth and successful conduct of the main examination.
