The Israeli military on Monday announced that it had killed a senior commander of Iran’s Quds Force in an airstrike carried out in Tehran.
In a statement, the military said the operation, conducted by the Israeli Air Force a day earlier, targeted Asghar Bagheri, who led the special operations unit of the Quds Force.
According to the statement, Bagheri had headed Unit 840 since 2019 and was linked to operations targeting Israeli and American interests globally.
The Quds Force is the external operations arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and plays a central role in coordinating activities beyond the country’s borders.
The Israeli military added that the commander had held several key positions within the force in recent years and was actively involved in planning and executing international operations.
There was no immediate response from Iranian authorities regarding the claim as of the time of filing this report.
