U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey has called for the immediate removal of President Donald Trump, describing him as a threat to both the United States and global stability.
In a statement issued in Boston, Markey expressed concern over Trump’s recent remarks, arguing that they signal dangerous leadership. He warned that the president poses a “clear and present danger” and must be removed before causing severe consequences.
Markey stated that lesser legislative actions, such as a war powers resolution, would not be sufficient under the circumstances. He accused the president of promoting conflict and raised concerns about the potential for extreme actions, including the use of nuclear weapons.
He urged Congress to act swiftly, outlining constitutional options for removal. According to him, the House of Representatives should initiate impeachment proceedings, followed by a Senate trial to determine removal from office. Alternatively, he suggested invoking the 25th Amendment, which would allow the vice president and cabinet, with congressional support, to remove the president.
The senator emphasized the urgency of the situation, calling on lawmakers to reconvene and take decisive action to address what he described as a growing threat.
