The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has directed its members to demonstrate full loyalty, obedience, and strict compliance with its leadership or leave the movement entirely.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group said members must focus only on core objectives tied to the release of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB warned that any deviation from these directives would be treated as sabotage.
The group alleged that there has been a long-standing effort by the Nigerian government to infiltrate and destabilize its structure from within. It claimed that such attempts began in 2016 and were aimed at weakening the movement by exploiting internal divisions and influencing members close to positions of authority.
IPOB stated that it has resisted these alleged infiltration attempts and emphasized that its members must channel their activities toward three key priorities: global advocacy for Kanu’s unconditional release, international diplomatic pressure for Biafra’s sovereignty, and preparations for the May 30, 2026 Heroes Remembrance Day.
The group further instructed that from 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, any discussion, post, or activity not aligned with these objectives should be disregarded.
IPOB maintained that it would not tolerate dissent within its ranks, urging anyone who disagrees with the directive to leave and form their own movement. It reaffirmed its position of unity under Kanu’s leadership, insisting that its focus must remain on its core agenda without distraction.
