BREAKING: Bauchi political scene heats up as Bala Mohammed engages APC lawmakers [Video]

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Thursday met behind closed doors with members of the House of Representatives from the All Progressives Congress, a move that has heightened speculation over a possible shift in his political allegiance.

The meeting comes at a time when there are increasing signs that the governor may be considering leaving the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC ahead of future elections.

Addressing journalists after the session, one of the federal lawmakers, who chose not to be identified, said the meeting was convened to review ongoing political developments both nationally and within Bauchi State.

According to him, the lawmakers honoured an invitation by the governor to deliberate on what he described as evolving political alignments across the country.

“We came together as members of the National Assembly to engage with our governor and leader on critical political developments, especially those affecting our state,” he said.

He further disclosed that the deliberations ended on a positive note, adding that details of their discussions would be made public in due course.

“We have arrived at a favourable understanding, and very soon we will come out to inform the public on the outcome of our engagement,” he added.

The meeting followed earlier consultations reportedly held by the governor and a prominent PDP chieftain with stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress, a development seen as part of broader political calculations ahead of upcoming elections.

While Mohammed has not officially declared any intention to defect, the series of engagements has continued to fuel conversations about a potential realignment in Bauchi’s political space.
