Former Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi has died from injuries sustained during recent strikes linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict, according to Iranian media reports.
Kharazi, who was 81, reportedly suffered severe wounds during attacks carried out on April 1. He had been serving as the head of Iran’s Strategic Council for International Relations at the time of the incident.
Local media described the attack as a “terrorist operation,” alleging it was carried out by U.S. and Israeli forces. Reports also indicated that his wife was killed when their residence in Tehran was struck.
A seasoned diplomat, Kharazi previously served as Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations before becoming foreign minister from 1997 to 2005 under former president Mohammad Khatami.
His death comes amid escalating violence in the region, which reportedly began following coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes in late February. Several high-ranking military and political figures have also been killed since the conflict intensified.
The development underscores growing instability in the Middle East, as tensions continue to rise with no immediate resolution in sight.
