Obasanjo Criticises Tinubu Administration, Calls Government Ineffective

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as ineffective and failing to deliver meaningful results for Nigerians.

In a widely circulated video message, Obasanjo said that although every government inherits challenges, the current administration has relied on those challenges as excuses rather than addressing them with practical solutions. He argued that poor governance has negatively affected citizens, businesses, and overall public confidence.

According to him, a competent and effective government would have improved economic conditions and livelihoods, adding that Nigerians are bearing the consequences of what he described as weak leadership.

Drawing from his military background, Obasanjo emphasised the need for accountability and performance in governance, warning against tolerating or reinforcing failure in leadership.

His comments add to ongoing debates about Nigeria’s economic and security challenges as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections. As of the time of the report, there has been no official response from the presidency.
