A former chairman of Akoko North-West Local Government Area, Festus Olutope Adebambo, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing deep divisions within the party at the local level.
Adebambo, who previously served as Special Adviser to former Ondo State governor Olusegun Mimiko, made his decision known in a letter dated April 8, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Ogbagi Ward 6.
In the letter, he explained that ongoing internal conflicts within the party in Akoko North-West influenced his decision, stating that the divisions had negatively affected his community.
He added that his resignation was also driven by concern for the welfare and progress of his people.
Despite leaving the party, Adebambo expressed appreciation to the APC leadership and members for the opportunity to serve and collaborate during his time in the party.
The move adds to a growing trend of political defections within Ondo State, as internal party disputes continue ahead of upcoming political activities.
